The Golden Key saga

Recently two TV channels interviewed Lalith Kotelawela, former Ceylinco Group chairman, with regard to the Golden Key (GK) saga.
Soon after the collapse of GK he summoned all depositors to the BMICH and informed all present to give him time to settle each and every one in full – which I believe he would have.

Unfortunately, opportunists took on to themselves this responsibility and formed associations. To date nothing has been realised other than a paltry payment of Rs. 300,000 per depositor.

It is more intriguing that during the recent presidential election the GK Association thought it fit to place a half page advertisement wishing then President Mahinda Rajapaksa good luck – forgetting that it was during his period that three large deposits were withdrawn, triggering the collapse.

It is important for the Government to disband all associations connected with the GK episode and appoint an independent commission to investigate and also recover properties that have been bought by persons holding high positions for a song and also stop the administration charges involved by the current board.

It is only then that justice will be done to us depositors.

Depositor,
Talangama
