‘Kaala Nadee Gala Basi’, Norbert Ayagama’s maiden award winning novel revolving around colonial Sri Lanka is to be made into a teleplay by award winning teledrama director Ananda Abeynayake soon.  The Muhurath ceremony for the teledrama was held recently and the shooting is to be started soon. The story revolves around Sadiris who leaves his village with the social and economical changes that take place due to colonial invasion of rural villages. Set in 1898, the story shows how the peaceful lifestyle in the villages was changed with the starting of graphite mines under the colonial rulers. Sadiris who is unable to bear the changes decides to leave the country.

Director Ananda Abeynayake started his career as a film producer in ‘Sagarayak Meda’ directed by Gaminin Fonseka in 1981 and later produced Wasantha Obeysekara’s film ‘Maaruthaya’ in 1995. He started teledrama direction with ‘Menik Nadiya Gala Basi’ and since then has made a number of award winning teledramas.

‘Kaala Nadee Gala Basi’ cast includes Roshan Ravindra, Mahendra Perera, Chandani Seneviratne, Paboda Sandeepani, Vishwajith Gunasekara, Ama Wijesekara, Lakshman Mendis, Giriraj Kaushalya, Priyantha Sirikumara, Prasannajith Abeysuriya, Nadee Padmasiri, Ananda Kumara Unnehe and Senaka Titus. Editing is to be done by Jagath Weeratunga, Chandana Jayasinghe and Thisara Kulman camera, Gayan Ganakadhara the music and Narada Thotagamuwa the make up, Somadasa Maldeniya the production executive with Chamara Chinthaka as the assistant director. “Kaala Nadee Gala Basi’ is produced by Fahim Mawjood.
