The National Centre for Design & Product Development under the Ministry of Textiles Government of India is currently conducting an international exchange programme related to embroidery, cane and natural fibre industries at the Pragathi Maidan, New Delhi.

The National Crafts Council has nominated two leading craftswomen in the field of embroidery to participate in the programme. This will give them the opportunity to learn new designs and techniques in their field and further the development of the Sri Lankan embroidery sector. The air tickets for their travel were handed over by Chairman, National Crafts Council, Buddhi Keerthisena to the two craftswomen, Mrs. G.W.Swarna Jayanthi and Mrs. G.K Indrani, who represent the Western and North Central Provinces respectively.
