Wimal says opposition should not dream about polls victory

Minister and National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said that opposition parties should not build castles in the air and dream about defeating the Government at any of the upcoming polls.

“The Opposition today has no real criticism of the Budget. It only talks of the Rajapaksa family and the President’s travel costs. They can only throw pebbles at us but that will in no way stop the onward march of this Government,” Minister Weerawansa said during the debate on the Second Reading of the Budget in parliament yesterday.

He said the UNP was out of touch with the needs of the common man of the country. “It is only the gamei bhaiyyas (village bumpkins) like us who understand the needs of the common man. The toiyas on that side have no such understanding,” he added.
