HSBC will partner the Council for Business with Britain (CBB) to hold the third annual CBB drama competition for school students with the aim of raising funds for its distance training/learning programme (ELT) that is conducted in many rural schools.

The competition is open to international and local schools and the preliminary rounds will take place on October 25 and 26 at the British School Auditorium. The finals on November 1 will be open to the public.

Each school will be required to perform a play or an extract from a published play in English of the standard of an ‘A’ Level Literature text.
Winners will be judged under the following categories and awarded cash prizes. The Overall winner for best play will walk away with Rs. 100,000 cash prize, 1st Runner Up (play) with Rs. 50,000, 2nd Runner Up (play)with Rs. 25,000, 3rd Runner up (play) with Rs. 10,000 and Best Outstation School will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

Schools that have already come on board are Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gateway College – Negombo, Sanghamiththa – Galle, Stafford International School, Overseas School of Colombo, Trinity College – Kandy, British School Colombo and St. Peter’s College.
