University entrants’ Leadership Training continues as scheduled

Second stage of the fourth phase of the Leadership Training programme is to commence on October 4 and continue till October 24, the Higher Education Ministry said.

Ministry’s Media Secretary Gayaan Peiris said the first stage of the programme was completed on September 26, with 7,030 university entrants trained in 19 camps.

The second stage will train 9,215 students in 20 Army, Navy and Air Force camps islandwide.

Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake informed all Muslim participants celebrating Hajj festival on October 6, can report to their respective camps on October 7.

The Leadership Training programme titled “Development of Leadership Qualities and Positive Thinking” will be provided to all 23, 500 male and female university entrants, and is conducted jointly by the Higher Education Ministry, the Defence Ministry and the University Grants Commission.
The third and last stage will commence on October 30 and continue till November 19.

The three-week training programme, includes lectures on the country’s future vision, achieving long term objectives, physical exercises, first aid, leadership qualities and leadership, conflict management, psychology, legal environment, sexual harassment, social traditions nourishment, hostel manners, personal hygiene and beauty culture.
