‘Sadee’, the debut direction of actress Anomani Rodrigo won the International Movie Award (IMA) at the Film Festival held in Indonesia last week.

Screenplay written by Anomani herself, the film revolved around a child who is brought up by Sri Lanka’s ‘Adhivasi’ or indigenous community.  ‘Sadee’ was one of the 15 films that were given the Gold award and all the awarded films are to be screened in Jakarta until October 8.

The film stars Jeewan Kumaratunga, Roshan Pilapitiya, Senaka Wijesinghe, and Anomani herself and the special feature of the film is the characters of ‘Adhivasi’ or ‘Veddha’ were played by members from ‘Adhivasi community itself.  Harshan Karunatillake handled the cinematography in ‘Sadee’ while Saman Sujeewa Jayalath did the art direction, Manjula Dilruk makeup and Navaratne Gamage musical score.
