Top American companies from a wide variety of sectors showcased their products, technologies, and services at the U.S. Trade Show 2014 on Monday at the Hilton Residencies.

With U.S. Ambassador Michele Sison looking on, AmCham President Suren Rajanathan uses innovative technology from US company Virtusa to light the traditional oil lamp.

This year, the U.S. Trade Show focused on expanding the variety of American goods and services for local businesses and consumers.

Along with dozens of visitors, U.S. Ambassador Michele J. Sison attended the one-day event, which was jointly organised by the US Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (AmCham). Many of the American companies were major international brands, but the trade show also helped introduce some new American companies to smaller businesses in Sri Lanka as well, the US embassy said in a statement.
“Today’s U.S. Trade Show 2014 is designed to introduce local consumers and businesses to a broad selection of American products, technology, and service,” said Ambassador Sison. “It is our hope that these partnerships will further promote shared prosperity for the United States, Sri Lanka, and the region.”

Key sectors such as tourism, transportation, food and beverage, renewable energy, and power generation are areas where American companies provide high quality at a competitive cost.
