Minor Staff of state hospitals are set to go on sick leave on Wednesday in protest against the government’s failure to clear salary anomalies as agreed in a circular issued in 2006, a spokesman for the trade unions said.
The employees hope to march to the Presidential Secretariat to hand over a petition.
The Convener of the 21 combined Trade Unions T. H Somarathne said some employees have been carrying out a fast outside the hospital since July 14 to draw the attention of the authorities, but so far no action has been taken to resolve the matter. (CS)
