The skipper’s dilemma

It is everybody’s wish to be the in the winning team. In this particular case the skipper of the team which won a popular tournament last week was hoping that he would lose the game as the winners have been invited to participate in a money spinning tournament in a neighbouring country. Insiders say now the skipper will have to play for the local team at this contest instead of playing for a flourishing team across the Palk Straits for a staggering sum. Anyway big money is still within this player’s sight because if the local team does well they will be rolling in the dough. If they lose? Bad Luck!

Storm in a tea cup

The pretty lass working at the Citadel was in for a shock when she was interdicted for not making arrangements to seat a big wig for an official photograph. Now some others are trying to get her reinstated stating that this was due to an oversight and not intended to keep the big wig out of the photo session. Will the lady survive the storm? Insiders say that she will. Let’s wait and see!

Making ones
presence felt

A former boss of this sport had stormed the headquarters of this body and had demanded how the AGM of an outstation body had taken place at the headquarters. He had shouted and ranted at all present as to who had given permission to the outstation club’s AGM to be held at the hallowed premises. This official had been ‘Down Under’ for a quite a spell and insiders say that he is now trying to make a come back to the sport. That is why he is making a huge hue and cry, especially to make his presence felt!

Silence in golden

The sport that is akin to baseball in Sri Lanka had taken a stern decision that no official will be allowed to umpire at matches. However one such official has been officiating at matches on the sly. No reason has been given for this. When questioned about this set back the higher ups of the sport had remained silent. We wonder why?

Special Reason

The Tournament Secretary of a leading officiating body has been coaching a school team despite pressure from the sports main body to stay away from it. The rules of the sport too do not allow officials to be coaches. Despite requests asking him to quit the post he prefers to be still there. Could there be any special reason for this?

Tony’s Bunny

This former national cricketer has been making a name for himself as a commentator but sadly found him being left out of the SA tour. His place in the commentators’ box has now been filled by a veteran to fill in this youngster’s shoes. While the preset trend is to give the break to youngsters this veteran has crashed in. Is he trying to be the late Tony’s Bunny?
