Abimansala-3, a wellness resort for handicapped soldiers in the North Western Province, is set to open on April 25. The centre at Pangolla, Kurunegala will accommodate between 50 – 52 soldiers who will receive rehabilitation and therapeutic treatment. The resort, the third of its kind, has eight villas, three cottages, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy facilities. The facility will also have an indigenous medical unit, medical laboratory and a medical ward.

Operating directly under Army Commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake the resort was completed through the ‘Brave hearts’ project of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) which is chaired by Mrs. Damayanthi Ratnayake. There are 297 permanently disabled and dependent soldiers country-wide who lack proper and continuous therapeutic care and domestic facilities in their homes. To support these soldiers several projects such as MoD initiated Mihindu Seth Medura in Attidiya, Abimansala in Anuradhapura and Abimansala-2 in Kamburupitiya were opened.
