Popular Mirissa Resort Mandara is increasing their total roomcapacity from 20 rooms to 50 rooms and Mandara Rosen, Kataragama will be having 60 rooms.  Construction has already begun and expected to be completed before the 2014 winter season. Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector has recorded a strong growth and promises continued expansion.

‘Sri Lanka has a characteristic advantage of having a highly diversified tourism product which could be pitched against any other destination in Asia. The rapid growth of international tourism reflects that there is renewed interest in tour operators and individuals for Sri Lanka. It leads to an increase in demand for more rooms & hotels’ stated Sagara Palihawadana, Chairman/Managing Director of Mandara Hotels.

Hence, it is our aim to aggressively expand our portfolio over the next few months” said Upali De Silva, Director Operations of Mandara Hotels. “Finding properly trained human resources to manage the services in a satisfactory manner is still a concern to the industry. We are already having difficulties finding the right people. Sri Lanka should introduce a HR development initiative to overcome the situation even at this later stage” he further stated.
