Over the past few years, the Francophone Film Festival in Sri Lanka, has become an increasingly popular event among local movie lovers. Every year, the festival attracts a large audience. This year, Bonjour Cinema will be held on March 29 and 30 at the National Film Corporation of Colombo.

Organised by the High Commission of Canada, the Embassy of France, Romania, Switzerland, the Consulate of Tunisia, the Alliance Française de Kotte in association with the National Film Corporation and Agenda 14, the festival will showcase a collection of diversified movies and documentaries produced in member countries of International Organisation of “La Francophonie” (OIF). Six films, including three documentaries will be screened during the festival at 11 am, 3 pm and 6 pm at the NFC and all the films are subtitled in English and the entrance is free.

Following the idea of highlighting the Sri Lankan filmmakers and productions, a short film made by a Sri Lankan filmmaker will be screened before each feature film. In recognition of her prolonged contribution to Sri Lankan cinema, this year’s Francophone Film Festival will honour veteran filmmaker Mrs Sumitra Peries.
