‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’ wins Delhi award

‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’, a Sinhala movie based on the life story of Prince Siddhartha and his quest for truth, won the award for the best film in the World Cinema section at the second Delhi International Film Festival in India recently.

n epic film from the birth up to his enlightenment of Prince Siddhartha, it played by an international cast including Gagan Malik(India), Anchal Singh(India), Anjani Perera(USA), Gautam Gulati (India) and many Sri Lankan stars like Ranjan Ramanayake, Roshan Ranawana, Saranga Disasekara, Dilhani Perera, and Wilson Gooneratne. The film producer Navin Gunaratne who made the film on behalf of the Light of Asia Foundation was also given a special award for his contribution to cinema.

The festival showcased 171 films from 39 countries around the world over the period of seven days at the NDMC Convention Center, Connaught Place, New Delhi.
