Royal College is situated in Colombo 7. My school is 178 years old. It was built by the British during their invasion. It was a very prominent school in Ceylon at that time.
My school has been very good in the field of sports. They showed a lot of promise in cricket and rugby.
As a result, this year we annexed the Royal-Thomian annual big match 2013. The captain was Devin Pathmanadan. Apart from these two sports we have been very good in water polo, hockey, rowing and basketball.
We have annual inter-house sportsmeets. The houses are Hartley, Harward, Marsh, Boake and Reed. Our first headmaster was Rev. Joseph Marsh. Apart from sports we have extra-curricular activities. A very popular club is the Interact Club.
Royal College is South Asia’s biggest school. In the 2012 OL examination Royal College got the first rank in Sri Lanka. We have achieved all these results in studies and sports due to our principal Mr. Upali Gunasekara.
