‘Rhythm of the Maroons’, a musical extravaganza organized for the eighth consecutive time this year by the Music Circle of Ananda College, was held recently at the Peter de Abrew Memorial Hall in Museaus College.

From all over schools in Colombo, the competition, called VOCALIZE, where 30 schools and more than 500 competitors took part in under two categories – solo singing and choir. The first round took place on September 20th, and had its second round on October 11th.

The final competition was decided on by voting as well as by judges, who were Nadeeka Guruge, Heshan Gamage, Nelu Adhikari, and Wasantha Geekiyanage.

Priyath Rajapaksha from Vidura College won in the Best Solo Singing category, while the choir team from Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena walked away with the Best School Choir Trophy.
