‘This Is It’ comes alive in November
View(s):‘This Is It’ the Ultimate Choral Concert by Choro Calibre, which was to be held in October at the BMICH and Nelum Pokuna, has been postponed as the above venues will be occupied for the preparations towards Commonwealth Heads Of Government Annual Meeting (CHOGAM).
The concert ‘This Is It’ is rescheduled on the 25 November at the Nelum Pokuna Theater. The Ultimate choral concert will mark the choirs’ success as Choro Calibre directed by Shamal De Silva celebrates their 4th Year Anniversary whilst contributing to a worthy cause as the Proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Community Building Extension Project at All Saints’ Church, Borella.
‘This Is It’ will showcase THE BEST of CHORO CALIBRE and comprise a variety of carefully arranged segments ranging from Classical to modern music in different styles and languages, together with choreography, Dancing, Acting, Accompaniment, Hi-Tech lighting, Superior Sounds, Stage Props & Special Effects.
The Backing accompaniment for THIS IS IT will be by the Band ‘Miracle’ also led by Shamal. ‘THIS IS IT’ will CHALLENGE BOUNDARIES and deliver MAXIMUM SATISFACTION to the Audience and will comprise the following diverse segments.
Curtain Raiser
The DRAMATIC start with the ‘PHANTOM OF THE OPERA’ flows to a medley of all time hit THEME SONGS in an epic CLASSICAL ROCK ORCHESTRAL arrangement ending with ‘MISSION IMPOSSIBLE’ and surprising stunt which will set the exact tone for the show, and deliver what the audience is suppose to expect…THE UNEXPECTED!!!
Classical Segment-The stage is transformed into a traditional choral setting with selections from great works such as Carl Orff’s “Carmina Buranal”, Enigma, Josh Groban followed by a GOSPEL ACCAPELLA. Modern Segment-An array of contemporary music of different styles including house, hip-hop and techno music combined with beat-boxing, modern choreography and costumes in an ALIEN THEME
Retro Segment-Time travel to the ‘Golden Era’ from the classic 70’s to the scintillating 90’s with variety of styles in music ranging from LATIN, DISCO0 & ROCK N’ ROLL .
Country Segment-This COW BOY THEME segment consist of the choir’s arrangement of a variety of country music, combined with a touch of humor, and highlight the choir’s acting and dancing skills. Ethnic Segment-This segment kicks-off with the choir’s trademark and the AWARD WINNING act, “The Wannam Medley” and ends with a colorful and glamorous performance of upbeat Indian dance music.
Dance Segment-Dance music of YESTERYEAR & CONTEMPORARY in this vibrant segment, will move the audience to cheer along and tap their toes with Sri LANKAN BAILA for a GRAND FINALE
Tickets for THIS IS IT are priced at Rs.10000 (VVIP), Rs.5000 (VIP), Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 and will be available from the 1st of November 2013 at Tickets.lk, Nelum Pokuna & Vibrations.
