The new French Ambassador in Sri Lanka H.E. Jean-Paul Monchau and Madame Francoise Monchau were Chief Guests at “Nostalgie03 – the Eiffel Tower Unplugged”, an exhibition of black and white photographs by media personality Kumar de Silva.

Presented by the Alliance Francaise de Kotte, this exhibition portrayed thirty different views of the Eiffel Tower through the changing Parisian light as seen through the eyes of the photographer. Amid the large and distinguished gathering present at the gala inauguration were also Dr. Lester James Peries (Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters) and Irangani Serasinghe whose 1950 portrait by Ivan Peries (brother of Dr. Lester James) once adorned the galleries of the prestigious Petit Palais in Paris.

“We thank Kumar de Silva, as a recognised communicator and artiste in Sri Lanka, for giving us such an opportunity to celebrate and admire a masterpiece of human ingenuity”, says the Director of the Alliance Française de Kotte in Colombo, Alexandre Martinez.

Situated at 18, Coniston Place, Colombo 07, the Alliance Française de Kotte is France’s ONLY such official French language and cultural centre in the Colombo City.
