Jetwing Yala luxury hotel owned by Jetwing subsidiary, Jetwing Symphony will be ready by next week, Jetwing Hotels Chairman Hiran Cooray said.

“Spread across 38 acres of land, Jetwing Yala cost Rs. 1.5 billion on construction alone, without land value,” he told the Business Times, adding that they are slated to open on October 25th. He said that it took 18 months to complete the construction an that Jetwing Yala is to be classified under the 5-star category.

He added that Jetwing Symphony is selling 30 per cent stock in this company in a private placement (selected buyers) hoping to raise about US$8 million. “This placement is still on,” he said.

Equipped with 80 rooms and 16 tents it is located just outside the vicinity of the Yala National Park, Mr. Cooray said, adding that the hotel has been built along the concept of it being one with nature.

He said that this property will conserve energy and resources; it will use LED lighting while a biomass boiler (which burns cinnamon wood sourced from local suppliers) will generate hot water.

Jetwing Colombo, a 70 room and 28 apartment/ hotel and Jetwing Yarl – Jaffna, a 70 room hotel is currently being built and will be opened in the next 12 to 24 months.
Jetwing Reef –Uppuveli with 60 rooms and 28 apartment and Jetwing Lake – Dambulla, a 98 room hotel is to be built, Mr. Cooray said.
