The Global Tamil Forum (GTF) has written to Queen Elizabeth, the head of the Commonwealth expressing grave concerns regarding the current situation in Sri Lanka and stating several reasons why the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which will be held in Colombo this November will be an embarrassment to the Organization and to the values it holds most dear.

Rev. Dr S.J. Emmanuel, the President of the GTF in a letter to Queen Elizabeth said that since 2009, the prospects of peace, justice and reconciliation have been consistently undermined by the Rajapaksa Government.

It is because of this lack of faith in his administration that I and numerous others look to the international community and organisations, such as the Commonwealth, for assistance,” he said.
