Little Thiwanka comes from a village in Naminioya area in Matale and he studied at the Naminioya Srimath Monty Gopallawa Model Primary School. Talking about her student, class teacher Anusha Kumari said that Thiwanka got such high marks though suffering many hardships.

“His parents were struggling economically and Thiwanka did not go to extra tuition classes for the examination,” she said.

Looking at Thiwanka’s school uniforms one could easily see the adversity the child’s face. When we went to his house we saw how he made a great effort to communicate with his parents and try to make them aware of his needs.

His grandparents had helpd him whenever they could. Thiwanka who has another sibling has a great ambition to become a doctor one day.
