My birthday present

I got a wonderful birthday present from my mother. It was a Barbie doll and her jewellery set. I play with my Barbie doll. I change her frock and her jewellery. She is very pretty. She has gold hair and big pink eyes.

One day I took her to my school to play with her. She has a pretty frock. It is pink colour and she has a pair of pink shoes. I love my pretty Barbie.

My pet

I have a pet dog. Its name is Cutty. It is tall, brown, with small eyes and a tiny black nose. It likes to eat bones and drink milk.
When it hears the sound of my father’s car, it runs out to welcome him. I love my pet very much.

My school trip

I went to school by five thirty in the morning. When I got to school, I got my number. We started the bus at six o’clock. When we went in the bus, we sang songs. The trip was to Galle. We went in five buses.

First we went to see the Turtle Hatchery. There we learned a lot of things. Then we went to see the Martin Wickramasinghe Museum. Then we had lunch.

We came back to school at five in the evening.

A true friend

A true friend is someone who never gets tired of listening to your pointless dramas over and over again. A true friend never laughs at your weaknesses.

True friendship does not need to be male or female but needs only a good heart and friendly speaking style. Some friends will be silent when you speak but that does not mean that he or she does not like you. Sometimes silence and a smile are powerful tools. A smile is the way to solve many problems and silence is the way to avoid many problems. And honesty is a good habit in a friendship.

Sometimes life gets so busy that I can’t even say ‘Hi’ or make a call or send a reply. But it doesn’t mean that I forgot you because in my heart I keep you forever as a good friend. This is the way of friendship. Have good friends and enjoy your life.

My mother is the prettiest flower in the world. She is very friendly. She is the only one who can wipe my tears. She is a doctor, a
teacher and a sister etc. She tells me beautiful stories before I go to bed. She is the key to my whole world. She is like a flower and this flower will never fade.

Her name is Shanthi Karunanayaka. She gets tired when my tests are near. She helps me to study. She teaches me good manners. She is very worried when I am sick. I love my mother more than the world.

The best soup in the world!

I was coming downstairs in the evening

Going to read an unusual book
Everyone gave me a greeting
Mum came out of the kitchen saying,
“Honey, you need to cook!”

I entered the fogged up room
Looking for the mushroom
“Watch out, sugar!
The stove is ever so hot!”
I couldn’t bear the heat
So I grabbed at random food like
sugar, pepper, honey and meat
I’d rather run away on my broken bike

There was radish, chips, fish and milk,
A dust of salt with a touch of cucumber,
This seems like such a bummer
I took it in to the dining room
without saying a word
“Is it Pizza, Sushi or curd?”
“No! It’s the best soup in the world!”
