Janadhipathi BV U19 WP hockey champs
View(s):Janadhipathi BV, Nawala defeated Musaeus College 5-0 to emerge Under 19 Western Province Hockey Champions, in the final played at the Sirimavo BV ground recently.
At halftime the winners held a 3-0 lead. Scoring for the day was opened in the seventh minute by Imesha Lakshani who repeated the performance in the 10th minute and two minutes later Samadi Mandira made it 3-0 in favour of Janadhipathi BV at halftime.
After the change of ends, Janadhipathi BB increased the lead to 4-0 when Nishal Sepala sounded the boards and in the 39th minute, Imesha Lakshani netted her third goal to give her side a convincing 5-0 win.
The game was refereed by M.Naushad and Ashok Peiris, while T. Sathiskumar was the third umpire.
The championship was organized by the Western Province Education Department and conducted by the Colombo Schools Hockey Committee.
Meanwhile, Yasodara BV secured a third-placed finish when they downed Sirimavo BV 1-0.
The solitary goal of the game was scored in the 27th minute of play by Hisarani Dewasmitha of Yasodara BV.
The match was refereed by B.L.V.S. Perera and T. Satishkumar, while M. Naushad was the third umpire.
