Two thousands tins of expired canned fish, 200 kilos of soya meat and 50 kilos of margarine, all unfit for human consumption were seized during a joint raid by Environment Police and the Dehiwala-Mt.Lavinia Medical Officer of Health’s office.

The items were found in a storage on Katukurunduwatte Road in Ratmalana. Police said that the food items from this storage were distributed to boutiques and bakeries in Colombo and the suburbs.

Police said that the storage was sealed and Mt.Lavinia Police Environment Unit would continue further investigation.
