One-way traffic test at Town Hall

View(s):

Police yesterday carried out a trial run for a one-way road traffic system around the Town Hall area in Colombo. Police said that it was only a trial run and a decision would be taken later. However if implemented, vehicles proceeding along Union Place (Colvin R. de Silva Mawatha) towards Dharmapala Mawatha would have turn towards C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha at the Lipton Cirucus, and take a right turn towards F.R. Senanayaka Mawatha before reaching Dharmapala Mawatha. Vehicles coming along the Dharmapala Mawatha from Kollupitiya will not be allowed to take the right turn to F. R Senanayake.

There is no diversion for vehicles proceeding along Dharmapala Mawatha towards Union place or Deans Road.Vehicles from Ward place heading towards Union place will have to go along C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha, F.R. Senanayaka Mawatha and Dharmapala Mawatha before turning to Union Place.

Last week the police carried out a trial run for a one way system around Maradana, Sangaraja Mawatha and Panchikawatte. The new traffic plan for Maradana is likely to be implemented soon.
