‘Tribute’ —  Ruvini Hapugalle Gunasekera’s students to perform in a concert dedicated to her mother Indranee Hapugalle

Born to a talented musical family, music teacher Ruvini Hapugalle Gunasekera, celebrates 21 years of teaching with a concert which will be her tribute to her mother, who is the inspiration and rock behind her success.

A gifted pianist and musician, Ruvini has dedicated her time to helping young students in achieving their dreams of a successful musical career.

‘Tribute’ not only showcases the talents of her students, it is also a dedication to her mother, who she believes deserves recognition for her work and contribution to the musical industry.

Dedicating her life to teaching music to generations of students, Indranee Hapugalle was passionate and committed to her work, imparting a genuine love for music to her students. She was actively involved in the Institute of Western Music for over 55 years and also served as an examiner.

Ruvini and her sister, Sujeeva Hapugalle grew up with their mother’s music which filled the corners of their home. The sisters’ achievements throughout the years have shown the natural talent they both have inherited from their mother. Ruvini says the influences of her mother and older sister have had a huge impact on her.

Sujeeva though unable to come for the concert, has been a source of strength to the family with her wholehearted support in making this concert a success. An outstanding concert pianist, Sujeeva won a scholarship to pursue her music studies in England and now has a fulfilling career.

Indranee Hapugalle always believed music to have a therapeutic effect. Never keen on the spotlight, Indranee prefers to express herself through her music or painting. The family has collected her artworks and compiled a publication where her creative talents are displayed.

‘Tribute’: A Musical Dedication’- will have a variety of music ranging from the Beatles to piano and violin solos. It will be held at the British School Auditorium on June 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at The Commons.
