Nalanda principal under investigation for alleged misuse of College funds, taxing parents

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has opened an investigation into allegations of corruption against Colombo Nalanda College Principal Wasantha Ranjith Jayasundare. Initially, an investigation was launched by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), following a complaint by a group of old boys of the college, that the principal had utilised college funds for personal use.

Allegations also have been levelled against the principal for collecting exorbitant amounts of money from parents to admit their children to Grade 1, as well as for school development activities. A spokesman for the Bribery Commission said that the investigation was consequent to a CID report.
