Mystery behind gutted vehicle of lawyer
View(s):The vehicle of a leading lawyer in Anuradhapura was destroyed in a fire on Friday, Police said. They said an investigation has been launched to ascertain whether the vehicle was deliberately set on fire. The owner, Nimal Marasinghe and family had been away from the house when the incident took place.
Mr Marasinghe told the Sunday Times that he was suspicious as to how the vehicle could have caught fire when it was stationary.
The vehicle was valued at over Rs. nine million. Mr. Marasinghe said he was away with his family on a Vesak sightseeing trip when a neighbour called him and alerted him about the fire. “If we had not returned on time the fire would have spread to the house too,” he added.
