At a time when the private medical industry has come under heavy criticism over its service and treatments, a teledrama is released under the title ‘Nirsathwayo’ highlighting same and how the public and patients are subjected to exploitation at the hands of medical mafia.

The story of the drama revolves around Nelson Wanaguru, an owner of a private hospital who goes to hell once he is dead and a complicated situation he had to face there. In hell Wanaguru experiences the sufferings of those human beings who lived with corrupt practices. As the punishment for Wanaguru’s corrupt lifestyle and the wealth he accumulated by running the private hospital, he was to be born as a lower grade human being.

But he gets an opportunity to get rid of the punishment. That is by turning his hospital through which he became rich with wrongful and unfair practices for the benefit of the poor patients. This becomes a major challenge to Wanaguru on all fronts.

With his demise Wanaguru’s son Chamara runs the hospital and there is famous specialist medical practitioner Nirmal Dewage who charges exorbitant amounts through channel services and exploits the patients. Dr. Nirmal is an asset to the hospital while the private hospital is a goldmine to the doctor. Because of this strong bond, Chamara starts an affair with doctor’s daughter and makes her one of the directors.

Now the challenge is for dead Wanaguru is to somehow make Dr. Dewage to see the suffering of those lived with corrupt practices and accumulated wealth and change his mind and let him go back to the world. For Wanaguru this seems an impossible task specially at a time when the hospital is financially flourishing every day with the union of Chamara and Dr. Dewage.
