NDB continues to empower SME’s with a series of Islandwide Workshops

Taking into consideration the importance of SME’s to the national economy, NDB has dedicated over 30 years of customised financial expertise to this sector. Whilst providing a range of dedicated financial solutions to empower the SME sector, the Bank conducts comprehensive SME workshops with the aim of educating and developing the skills, knowledge and competencies of the entrepreneurs across the country. These workshops are designed to enlighten entrepreneurs on making best use of the many emerging opportunities.

In a bid to continue this island-wide endeavour to educate and empower SMEs, NDB further extended this initiative to Nittambuwa, Homaga and Minuwangoda recently.

Nittambuwa

The programme saw the participation of over 100 participants, mostly in commercial trading sector.
The workshop consisted of interactive sessions on SME services conducted by the Head of SME Banking of NDB, Mr.Indika Ranweera, followed by an open dialogue under the theme of “Building a new Sri Lanka” facilitated by Mr.Yasas Hewage.

The participants actively engaged in these interactive sessions sharing views, knowledge and best practices while learning new concepts of investment and financial management. The programme concluded with a fellowship evening which provided an opportunity for the participants to network with enterprise owners within the region.

Homagama

The programme in Homagma was well attended by SME owners of diverse sectors including rubber, agriculture and wholesale trading. The guest speaker at the event, Mr.Aminda Methseela, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wayamba, shared insightful information and knowledge on emerging investment opportunities and financial management. Interactive sessions and discussions allowed the participants to share ideas with each while clarifying doubts and finding solutions to many practical challenges faced by them with the help of the experts in the panel.

Minuwangoda

Minuwangodais a rapidly developing city with emerging new opportunities. Seeing the importance of the SME’s in propelling this development, NDB moved into the city recently with a new branch, opening up growth opportunities for the SME’s of the region.

Accordingly, the SME workshop conducted in the city was attended by many entrepreneurs from diverse sectors such as trade, agriculture, apparels and construction.

The programme received an overwhelming response from the participants who were greatly appreciative of the knowledge and valuable insight provided at the interactive sessions of the programme.
