Renowned historian to deliver Dudley Oration

The annual Dudley Senanayake Memorial Oration, this year will be delivered by a world renowned historian, Professor John Holt William R Kenan Jnr. on August 3 at the BCIS auditorium at the BMICH at 5.30 p .m. The lecture is organized by the Dudley Senanayake Memorial Foundation and the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung fur die Freiheit.

Prof. Keenan, is Professor of Humanities in Religion and Asian Studies at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, USA.. He has been awarded many awards, grants and fellowships and has written numerous books and published papers on subjects including Religion, Buddhism, Discipline, History and Politics.

The title of the oration is ‘Political impacts on Religion in Sri Lanka’.

Nandadasa Kodagoda 15th Memorial Oration

The Deshamanya Nandadasa Kodagoda 15th Memorial Oration will be delivered by President’s Counsel Dr. Jayampathy Wickramaratne on “Human Rights : Ours or Theirs” on Thursday, August 2 at 5.30 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute
The lecture is orgganised by the Nandadasa Kodagoda Memorial Trust.

De La Salle Walk and Mega Musical Fete

The Old Boys’ Union of De La Salle College will hold its annual De La Salle Walk and Mega Musical Fete on Saturday, August 4 from 3 p.m. onwards to mark the school’s 107th anniversary. A musical show with the band Sanidhapa will be held from 6 p.m. at the College grounds.

Exhibition to mark 33 years of art

‘Anuralokaya’ an exhibition celebrating 33 years of art by Anura Srinath will be held from August 2-5 at the National Art Gallery, Colombo 7. The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The 12th death anniversary commemoration of former Mass Media, Tourism and Aviation Services Minister, Dharmasiri Senanayake, was held on July 24 at Temple Trees with President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the gathering.

Light of Asia primary  winner from  Dhamma School

The Sunethra Maha Devi English Dhamma School – Pepiliyana, student Mahin Pabasara de Silva – winner of the Challenge Cup at the ‘Light of Asia 2012 -Primary Boys Colombo Division’ was trained by the Dhamma School staff. Lions Club Katugastota- Central installation ceremony

Lion Lakshmi Rambukwelle Dias (centre) was installed as president at the 17th instalation ceremony of Lions Club of Katugastota-Central at ‘Rajagedera’ (Bake House) in Kandy recently. Lion Nanda Abeykoon (left) was installed as secretary, while Lion Indra Kobbekaduwa (right) was installed as treasurer.
