Havelocks SC established a procession over Air Force’s try line, to record an imperious 47 (6 goals and 1 try) -5 (1 try) victory in their club clash, at the Air Force grounds in Ratmalana yesterday. The loss was the first major upset of this year’s club season, and a major one at that, considering the margin by which Air Force was beaten.

Air Force frequently found itself unable to counter Havelocks’ powerful and quick offense and were never really able to establish any set game plan, as they were blown away right from the game’s outset. Lock Asitl Nissan and Centre Thusitha Samarthille ran amok in Air Force’s 22, with both men scoring two tries during the opening half that were converted by Centre Hakalo Wiliani and Centre Pulenales Sofo.

The score at halftime was 28-0. In the second half Winger Chamara Dabare, Back Mohamed Sherif and Sofo continued the assault for Havelocks with a try and two goals respectively. Air Force could only boast of a single try that came from Winger Lahiru Weerasinghe; feeble resistance against a Havelocks machine that was working at full throttle.
