Shihan, Ishan and Mapa lead Colts fight back

Shihan Kamileen, Mapa Bandara and Ishan Jayaratne led the Colts fight back against Badureliya CC on day two in the final round match of the Premier Tier ‘A’ cricket encounter at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.

Colts resuming from their overnight score of 79 for 4 saw the two right hand batsmen Shihan and Ishan putting on 103 runs for the fifth wicket while Mapa, coming in after the lunch break, propped up the Colts scoreboard.

Shihan made 97 which had nine boundaries while Ishan made a quick fire 42 with five boundaries and Mapa made 55 with seven boundaries to help Colts to score 338.

ake a modest 235. They were struggling on 65 for 6 before T.N. Sampath came to their rescue with 85 as he along with Ruvinda Shamen made 72 and put on 152 runs for the seventh wicket enabling them to reach a respectable score.

Chamara Silva had the honour of reaching the 1000 runs mark for the season. Chamara achieved this in the match against Moors at Reid Avenue. Chamara made 86 which saw him accumulate 1035 runs. This score came from nine matches and was made up of three tons and six half tons.

Two other half tons apart from Chamara by Dilshan Munaweera and Sanjaya Gangodawila saw Bloomfield make 361. But Moors who ended the first day on 57 for 1 made a bold 350 which came on the back of half tons by Kanchana Gunawardena, Shehan Jayasuriya, Dilhara Lokuhettige and Chathuranga de Silva.

Chilaw Marians have already obtained a first inning lead over Lankan CC at Braybrooke Place. NCC was reeling against traditional rivals and neighbouring SSC at the NCC ground. NCC resuming from their overnight score of 66 for 4 failed again as they folded up for 138. This was in reply to SSC’s 209.

Ragama CC resuming from their overnight score of 453 for 4 went on to post a mammoth 601 for 9 against Tamil Union, who ended the day making 173 for 6, when play stopped on day two at the P. Sara Stadium.

Premier Tier ‘B’
Army is assured of the Premier Tier ‘B’ title as they have already obtained a first inning lead over CCC when play stopped on the second day in the match at the CCC g round.
The first day’s play saw Army who took first lease of the wicket make 264 and had CCC struggling on 105 for 7. CCC resuming on day two lasted only 11 overs being bundled out for 145.
Army batting the second time went for quick runs and made 176.

CCC set a target of 296 runs for victory ended the day on 51 for 1 needing another 245 runs to win when play resumes on the final day today. Navy who was struggling for survival in their match against Air Force at Rifle Green came back thanks to the stiff resistance put in by their late order batsmen.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority resuming from their overnight score of 324 for 5 went on to amass a massive 438 against Saracens SC who ended the day on 91 for 4 at Panagoda.

Andy Solomons slammed his best first class knock of 166 which saw BRC resuming form their overnight score of 50 for no loss, ending day two on 364 for 7 against Police at Police Park. Andy’s 158 ball knock had 17 boundaries and four sixes. Police taking first lease on day one made 220.
Panadura was on top against Kurunegala YCC at Panadura. Panadura resuming on their overnight score of 67 for 1 scored 441 in reply to Kurunegala YCC’s 214.
