| The newly re-furbished Cinnamon Lodge Habarana hosted its flagship event for the third consecutive year from August 26 – 28. Summer Camp Lodge hosted over 50 participants, kids between the ages of 4 – 17, who actively took part in the many games, workshops and entertaining events.
The camp activities began with a round of games to enable the kids to get to know their team mates. A quick debriefing session was followed by a drama workshop conducted by Professor Neluka Silva. The kids were encouraged to bring out their hidden talents through acting. After splashing around in the pool the kids got ready for camping the night under the stars.
They indulged in a camp dinner and gathered around the campfire to roast
marshmallows while
singing camp songs
followed by an exciting movie night outdoors with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows before retreating into their tents to call it a night.
Day two began with a Yoga session with
uncle Sanjaya and after
fuelling up at breakfast the kids were packed up off to Polonnaruwa to
commence a ‘Treasure Hunt’ in the historic capital of Sri Lanka. After a
whirlwind run of
searching for clues and putting the puzzle together to discover the ‘treasure’ the kids arrived at Cinnamon Lodge for lunch. After which they practiced their dance item with professional dance trainer Kevin Nugera.
The ‘Gala Camp Party’ was held on Saturday night, with two enthralling dance performances by the groups and one by the parents; the party continued with
singing and dancing and was concluded with a
fireworks display.
