Spotlight on ex-generation band

Retro music is catching up fast with the younger generation now. This may be due to the fact that, the melodies were tuneful, easy to remember, lyrics were meaningful and made a lasting impression on the listener. Accordingly a group of 4 senior musicians along with a younger member have banded together under the name of “EX-GENERATION” to provide just that for the music lovers.

The members of the ‘Ex-Generation’ band are, Peter de Almaida (Keyboard/Bass/Vocals) Sarath Goonawardene (Lead guitar/keyboard/Vocals, Gamini Seneviratne (Reythm/Keyboard/Vocals) Prem Korathota (Drums/Vocals) and Amal Shantha (Bass/Vocals).

Peter who played with Jetliners, Super Golden Chimes, Rendeyvous, Masquerade including his own band 20th century AD in Sri Lanka is back after 7 years from Australia where he performed as a Bass player in a 5 piece band called ‘Velvet Noize’. He also played with Esquire set & Serenade in Switzerland before going to Australia.

Sarath Goonawardena a past President of Moratuwa Arts Forum, who formed & played for Cambrians, Country Boys & later played with Rhythm Knights at the “Little Hut” Mount Lavinia Hotel. He was the composer of the theme song of Sri Lanka Railway published in 2009 Prem Korathota and Gamini Seneviratne were the members of a popular band in 70’s called Deep Radiance who performed at a well known night spot called “LA Langousterie” in Mount Lanivia & also at various hotels in Bentota & Negombo. They are back to music in a big way & are hoping to keep the audience happy.

The Younger member of the Band Amal Shantha has played with a Band called “EXODUS” for about 8 years at various Hotels in Hikkaduwa, Negombo & Kandy and proud to join, with ‘Ex-Generation’.
The band’s repertoire will include music that will be suitable for Dances, Weddings, Parties & corporate functions and they have concentrated mainly on Retro music dating back to the 70’s, Pop, Rock’n Roll, R & B, Reggaie, selection of present songs & not forgetting our own Popular cream of Sri Lanka songs.
