Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Cinderella

By Dilhara Perera, Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy

Once upon a time in a home,
There was a poor young girl,
She never had happiness in her home,
Though she was beautiful as a pearl.

She gets up in the morning,
And starts mopping the floor,
When her step-sisters start shouting,
She hides behind the door.

One day the fairy
godmother comes,
And dresses the girl in pink,
Then she goes to the royal ball,
But the spell breaks at
midnight in a wink.

She runs back home crying,
But leaves her precious slipper.
The prince finds her at home mopping,
And marries Cinderella
giving her the lost slipper.
