Yoland triumphs at Fashion Asia

Designer Yoland Aluwihare Holm’s exclusive brand Yoland Collection which was among the five Sri Lankan nominees at the Fashion Asia award ceremony bagged the prestigious title of ‘Asian top fashionable selling brand of the year’, beating nominees from Korea, Mongolia, Thailand and Singapore.

Fashion Asia, which is setting its sights on being the Oscar in the Asian fashion world is the first cooperation platform created for the Asian fashion industry by the world fashion media association which annually rewards outstanding accomplishments and excellent individuals in the fashion industry. The 160 judges of Fashion Asia consist of TV directors, chief editors of fashion magazines, fashion industry association chairmen and celebrities.

The nominees and winners of the 19 categories in Fashion Asia represented the power list in the Asian fashion world and included five well known Sri Lankan faces and brands. The five Sri Lankan nominees who represented categories such as Asian top fashion hair stylist of the year, Asian top fashionable tourist attraction of the year, Asian top fashionable selling brand of the year, Asian top fashion model of the year (female category), and Asian top fashionable creative design of the year included personalities and brands such as Johann Peries, Paradise Road, The Villa Bentota, Yoland Collection, Nadisha Yapage and Marie Alles Fernando respectively.

They were chosen by the National Director of Fashion Asia Rosita Wickremesinghe. Three of the five nominees - Yoland Aluwihare nominated for the Asian top fashionable selling brand of the year, Johann Peries in the Asian top fashion hair stylist of the year and Marie Alles Fernando in the category of Asian top fashionable creative design were present at the gala awards ceremony held in Dalian, China.

Yoland who beat brands like Fusion from Mongolia, Jaspal from Thailand and SuisseLab skincare from Singapore, said she was surprised at winning this award, which meant another victory for her country. She was proud to be Sri Lankan and represent Sri Lanka at an International forum such as this, she said, thanking Rosita Wickremesinghe for giving her and other Sri Lankan participants the opportunity.
