Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Wesak
By Kiki Wilson (13 years), English Academy, Negombo

Wesak is in the month of May
Where skies are grey,
but everyone's gay
With shimmering lights all around
And coloured lanterns abound.
Pandals lighted up
with stories to tell
Tales of yore, and many more

The 'dansals' and
tea and coffee centres
Which provide meals and drinks
To those weary travellers
Who have come from afar
To see the beautiful sights
They have never seen before

The Birth, Death and Enlightenment
of the Lord Buddha
is celebrated all over the world
We, in Sri Lanka wait for the day
To put out our 'Koodoos'
come what may.
