SLT signs up 55 State Timber outlets

Government-owned and Maxis of Malaysia-controlled Sri Lanka Telecom recently signed an 'exclusive' agreement covering the provision of voice as well as "broadband internet facility, email and web hosting" for 55 locations, namely "regional offices, timber complexes and sales depots", of the State Timber Corporation (STC), according to a statement by the fixed-line telecommunication provider.

It said that, "STC also will get the opportunity to get connected with [Lanka Government Network] once the data network is complete. For [this] project, SLT acts as the telecommunication backbone, providing high speed access to data, video and voice communications in government offices and ministries".
