Inter Act Art shows short play festival

Introducing another novel experience to the theatre lovers, Inter Act Art is organizing a short play festival- ‘Black Box Short Play Festival’ at the newly built Black Box Theatre in Rajagiriya.

The festival which is planned to be held at an international standard will go beyond the ordinary limitation and restriction where the playwrights will be free to handle any theme with any format. Taking the audience away from traditional proscenium theatre, this novel experience will be held at Black Box Theatre which is an alternative theatre with its comparatively small and limited seating capacity of 40 to 50.

M. Safeer

The short play festival comes following the successful ‘Sri Lanka Theatre Festival 10’ which was held for two week during the month of February.

Speaking about the festival CEO of Inter Act Art, M. Safeer said that at the first round 20 plays would be selected and planning to conduct at least two similar festivals annually.

‘Playwrights are free to make plays from any language and considering the stage space, limited number of stage and a cast should be used,’ Safeer said. During the festival, two shows will be shown daily and discussions would be held at the end of each performance.

The deadline for application is April 5 and further information can be obtained from 0773129749 or 0117201299.
