Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Peace
By Ishani Ekanayake (Grade 8), Royal Institute, Nugegoda

Peace is something we all need,
Peace is rarely found.
Peace means that we are freed,
From the battlefield of blood.

Peace is like a chain,
That binds us together.
It represents the pain,
Of the people who fought for our freedom.

Peace is like rain,
Which announces the end of a drought.
A drought impossible to find a grain,
And people are amazed when they survive.

Peace means green paddy fields,
When farmers grow the crops.
Peace shines out like a silver shield,
We hope it will shine very long.
