The Lankem Group on Friday took control of the C W Mackie (CWM) and Company, a food distribution and trading firm with a Danish and local shareholder, in a mega stock market transaction, brokers said.
A stock analyst said that Friday’s turnover of Rs. 1.67 billion was mainly boosted by the CWM transaction with a component of Rs. 744 million. “Aarhus United A/S held a 30.09% stake in CWM which is about 10.83 million shares as of September 2009, and Ceylon Trading Company, a locally incorporated firm held a further 26.47 % stake through 9.56 million shares.”
The analyst said that 20 million shares of CWM changed hands at a price of Rs. 35. The CW Mackie group distributes Sunquick concentrated juices in the country and snacks such as Jumbo branded peanuts. |
