'Concept to popularize Information technology at grass-roots level praised'

Mini Infotel 2009 - the regional exhibition for the ICT Industry, which is a key event being organized by the Sri Lanka Computer Vendors Association (SLCVA) in the Year of ICT and English, 2009, was successfully concluded recently at the ST. Anne's College Kurunegala. Speaking at the inaugurating ceremony, the Chairman of the SLCVA A Jeyaseelan praised President Mahinda Rajapaksa's concept to popularize Information technology at grass-roots level.

He also said that the main objective of this exhibition was to support the government's effort to popularize Information technology at grass-roots level."Arrangements are underway to hold series of these kinds of exhibitions in all key towns in the country including in the north and east in the near future," he said.

The event is endorsed by the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka with Intel Inc. Sri Lanka and eSys Technologies Lanka Pvt. Ltd as sponsors, while Dialog Telecom was the main sponsor of the event. Sri Lanka Information Technology Agency also assisted for the success of the event, he added.
