Funding sought for fertiliser, safari park and repair work

The government will seek Parliamentary approval this week for additional funding of more than Rs 3.5 billion to cover the fertiliser subsidy and the repair and renovation of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) building in Colombo.

A sum of Rs 2.5 billion has been earmarked for the Ministry of Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services, and a just over Rs. 1 billion for the Ministry of Finance and Planning for work on the IRD building that was damaged in an LTTE air attack last February.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports and Public Recreation will submit a supplementary estimate of Rs 50 million to create a safari park in Ridiyagama, in the Hambantota district.
