Dr. Harsha Alles elected to head ACTOS

Dr. Harsha Alles (Gateway Centre for Information Technology) was elected as President of the Association of Computer Training Organizations (ACTOS) at the organization's recent 17th Annual General Meeting. A former CIMA Pinnacle Award winner and member of the ICT Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Alles will be joined by Lionel Perera (IDM Computer Studies), Vice President, as office bearers for 2009/2010, according to a ACTOS statement. Promising "tangible benefits to the member companies – more than has been offered in the past", Dr. Alles has been further attributed with plans to obtain 'accreditation to the Tertiary Vocational Educational Qualification'.
Meanwhile, according to outgoing ACTOS President Kapila Giragama (Golden Key Institute of Information Technology), the organization has so far been 'actively involved in the ICT Capacity Building Program of ICT Agency’.

According to a statement, "ACTOS is a founder member of the Federation of ICT Industry and Services of Sri Lanka (FITISS) and also a member of the Infotel Lanka Society, well known as the organizers of the hall mark ICT event - the Infotel Lanka exhibition. Its membership includes the larger of the ICT educational institutes who offer quality programs at certificate, diploma, graduate and post-graduate level".
