Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The value of money
By Hajar Salam (13 years), Ilma International School

I walk miles in the scorching sun,
From one bus stop to another,
Each one drop just one rupee,
To let you know, I'm a beggar.

I cleaned till my hands are sore,
To feed and clothe myself.
Each day I earn a hundred,
Such is my life, a housemaid.

I'm well dressed, all formal and smart,
As I loyally perform my task,
Each day I stuff a thousand,
That's my life… an officer.

Money is valued by people,
In accordance to their way of life,
But everyone is useful,
To make ninety-nine a hundred.
