Sri Lankan success story at KBU International College

The term 'technopreneurship' comes synonymously with the engineering and computing programmes conducted at KBU International College, Malaysia. KBU is a very popular institute among Sri Lankan students looking for higher education opportunities overseas.

Migara Gunatilaka, a Sri Lankan who graduated in B Eng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering (a franchised programme conducted at KBU in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University UK), testifies on his wholesome experience at KBU. Migara just loves his experience in Malaysia especially his time spent at KBU. He finds that the campus is tranquil, calm and peaceful for quality teaching and learning to take place but yet it could be 'happening' at times. "This reflects the conducive and balanced learning environment that the college is able to provide to students", he remarked.

Migara is also proud to claim that he has benefited much through the concept of 'technopreneurship' which was infused into his engineering programme at KBU. "Students are not just taught the theoretical and practical aspects of any one programme but they are also taught how to be successful
entrepreneurs using the technological know-how that they acquired at the college", he remarked further. When asked why he has chosen Malaysia and in particular KBU for his tertiary education, Migara was quick to say that it was the 'cost saving' factor that has attracted him much in the beginning but later realized it was much more than that. Though coming from quite an affluent family background in Sri Lanka, Migara feels that one should not waste one's wealth by spending on something that could be obtained at a lower cost. "I could obtain my UK degree at KBU at only a fraction of the cost and I could go home every semester break to visit my family.

This is something very appealing" he added. Migara is also very appreciative of the warm Malaysian hospitality that has always made him and his other Sri Lankan friends feel at home.

Now armed with his new qualification, he is ready to take on his academic pursuit to postgraduate level in the field of engineering management in the UK.
