Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The April Fool
By Aranya Dewanarayana (13 years), St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle

Everything was perfectly normal,
That tiring Tuesday night;
I was completing my project

For Science about
'Shadows and Light.'
When suddenly the
doorbell rang.

And I had to answer the door,
'Cos mum and dad were rather busy;
I had no choice but to go.

I opened the door without a care
And found no one standing there,
But on the doorstep was a box
And in it were some smelly socks!

Then before I had a chance to move,
My brother screamed, "April Fool!"
From behind a bush in our lawn,
"Dear, that's a Nettle bush!" I cooed.
