AG’s office turns 125

The office of the Attorney General in Sri Lanka completes 125 years this year, and arrangements have been made to mark the historic event with a series of commemorative events to be held throughout the year.

The commemorative activities commenced with a pirith ceremony held at the department auditorium with the participation of the staff officers and other employees of the department on Friday and is to be followed by Christian, Hindu, and Islamic religious ceremonies.

The celebrations will culminate in an international conference to be held in August this year with the participation of Attorneys General of the SAARC Region, on the theme, “The Role of the Attorney General in the 21st century.

All activities are organised by committees consisting of the officers of the Attorney General’s Department, under the supervision of the Attorney General Mohan Pieris, PC and Solicitor General Priyasath Dep, PC.
