 Study FASHION @ The Academy of Design Colombo's only fully integrated Design School
The Academy of Design was delighted to offer 25 of its students the opportunity to partake in a highly focused Fashion Study Tour to see the designer retailer brands in Singapore. Singapore is one of the best Asian cities to visit for both high street and designer level fashion inspiration. The students had the opportunity to visit Singapore accompanied by their Head of Fashion to gain invaluable first hand exposure of many international brands.
 One of the main disadvantages all Sri Lankan fashion students face is the lack of hands-on exposure to international fashion brands and global looks. In order to produce homegrown design talent to rival international designers the fashion industry in Sri Lanka needs graduates who have direct familiarity with global brands. The study tour gave students a head start in their design careers by bringing to life these key international brands and labels. It broadened their fashion knowledge which will now help them develop fashion concepts that are in line with international trends. For those wishing to study abroad, continue to degree level, work in the Sri Lankan Fashion industry or become fashion entrepreneurs it will give them the advantage of experiencing the shops that fashion students and designers in the US and Europe walk into everyday.
 On the study tour students were able to explore this capital of shops, styles, fabrics and trimmings not available in Sri Lanka. They were able to gain inspiration through participation in a variety of carefully planned activities, walks and visits. They visited shops, markets, designer boutiques, department stores, vintage stores such as:Guess, Hugo Boss Woman, Zara, Mango, Armani Exchange, Giorgio Armani, Accessorize,Burberry, Celine,Chanel, Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, Fendi,Levi's,Louis Vuitton, Marc by Marc Jacobs, MaxMara, Shanghai Tang, Stella McCartney, Ted Baker, Paul Smith, Valentino, Billabong, Quiksilver, DKNY, Gianni Versace, Prada, Marks & Spencer, Gucci, Prada, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabanna and many more.
